Our story
Established in the Heart of Cairo
Brothers Elias and Edward Akaoui opened the first Akaoui boutique in Downtown Cairo. Located among the city’s theatres, cinemas, and cafés, the house became known for jewellery, imported Swiss watches, and carefully selected European pieces that reflected the cosmopolitan spirit of Cairo at the time.
Enduring Through Change
Revolution transformed much of Downtown Cairo. As foreign communities gradually left the country, several boutiques and workshops eventually closed over time. Elias Akaoui later stepped away, leaving Edward Akaoui to continue managing the business through a changing city and a changing era.
Entering a New Chapter
Nagui Akaoui opened the Korba boutique in Heliopolis, beginning a new chapter for the house. The focus gradually evolved toward curating distinctive jewellery and exceptional pieces sourced from Italy and abroad, chosen for their craftsmanship, character, and enduring style.
Continuing the Akaoui Story
Mark and Michael Akaoui continue this direction at the Korba boutique, personally selecting pieces while preserving the values that have shaped the house for generations.
Akaoui remains a family house rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and a lasting appreciation for jewellery with meaning.
